Origin, Character, Tempo, Appendix
The Triple Stroke Roll is an extremely versitle rudiment that is the foundation of several other rudiments. Most simply played with three equal strokes, it develops the player’s ability to play faster strokes with a single hand. This rudiment should be practiced very slowly at first, with focus on a full bodied sound as speed increases.
Often seen as a challenging rudiment and only appears in the RM Syllabus at a very late stage. However, this rudiment does help when building more complex rudiments such as the flam paradiddle. The player needs to be relaxed so that the rudiment doesn’t apear forced.

It is not an official rudiment, however, often played by drummers to practice their Double Stroke Roll.
Plutôt un exercice de technique, qu’un rudiment du tambour.
