Origin, Character, Tempo, Appendix

The Paradiddle-Diddle is a very common rudiment in the modern American Style, particularly within the Drum & Bugle Corps realm.  It is often written as a grouping of six notes over a beat.  When performing the Paradiddle-diddle, special care should be placed on ensuring that the single tap after the accent is at the same volume of the doubles that follow.

A variation on the double paradiddle in that there is an extra diddle, which replaced two single strokes.  With an accented first stroke care should be taken to ensure the diddle section is as even as possible.  Can been seen in many studies used at the RMSoM.  The rudiment should be played slowly and built up to a tempo of dotted crotchet = 88.
