RA DE 9-COUP DE CHARGE
Origin, Character, Tempo, Appendix
The Ten Stroke Roll is highly recongnizable with its distinctive two accented strokes at the end of each repetition. Often the two accented strokes are “squeezed” together to sound almost like a grace note followed by a down beat. It is often applied over one full beat. Sometimes the rhythmic characteristic of the Ten Stroke Roll is used as a lead in for other accent/roll ideas.
The 10 stroke roll will often be hidden amongst some military drum solos and RM Statics. The example shown is from an ABRSM study used within the RMSoM syllabus towards the 2nd half of training.
